Privacy Policy
Wavex ("Wavex: Clear Wave, Water Eject") is an iPhone app that plays low-frequency sound to help clear water from the iPhone speaker, with a tone generator, a noise meter and a stereo test. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes and what choices you have. In short: you don't need an account, the microphone is never recorded, we use Google Firebase for anonymous usage statistics and RevenueCat for purchases, and we never sell your data.
No account
Wavex doesn't ask for your name, email address, phone number or any login. When the app first starts, it creates a random, anonymous user ID. It isn't linked to who you are; it only lets your purchases and usage statistics be counted correctly.
Microphone (noise meter)
Wavex asks for microphone access only when you start the noise meter. While the meter runs, the app reads the current sound level on your iPhone and turns it into a decibel estimate. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. The microphone is switched off as soon as you stop the meter or leave the screen. You can withdraw access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone; everything except the noise meter keeps working.
Data stored on your iPhone
Your onboarding status, your 7-day speaker care progress and a cached copy of your subscription status are stored only on your iPhone. Deleting Wavex removes them.
Usage statistics (Google Firebase)
To understand how the app is used and to improve it, Wavex uses Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Remote Config, Firebase Installations and Firebase Authentication (anonymous sign-in), provided by Google.
- What is collected: app events such as first open, sessions, screens viewed, app and iOS updates, and purchase events (product, price and currency); the anonymous user ID and a random app instance ID; device model, iOS version, app version and language; and an approximate location (country or region) that Google derives from your IP address.
- Remote Config downloads settings for the app, such as how its subscription screens behave. It uses the Firebase installation ID to do this.
- What is never collected: audio from the microphone, your name, email address, contacts, photos or precise location.
Google stores this data for us. Event data is kept for a limited period of at most 14 months.
Purchases (RevenueCat)
Water eject and the tools need a Wavex Pro subscription, which you buy through Apple. We use RevenueCat to process and verify purchases and to know whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives the anonymous user ID, your purchase history for Wavex (products, dates, prices, currency, storefront), the Firebase app instance ID, your device's identifier for vendor (IDFV) and basic device and app information. We don't receive your payment details; Apple handles payment.
Ad attribution (Apple Ads, Google Ads and App Tracking Transparency)
We advertise Wavex on the App Store and through Google Ads. To learn which ads led to installs and subscriptions:
- Apple Ads: Wavex collects the attribution token provided by Apple's AdServices framework and sends it to RevenueCat, which uses it to look up the campaign with Apple. The token doesn't identify you personally.
- Google Ads: Google Analytics for Firebase measures installs and purchases on your iPhone and reports them to Google Ads, using Apple's SKAdNetwork and Google's privacy-preserving on-device conversion measurement.
Wavex asks once for App Tracking Transparency permission. If you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and IP address are also used by RevenueCat and Google for the same attribution purpose. If you don't allow it, the IDFA isn't collected. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
No ads in the app
Wavex doesn't show third-party ads.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell your data. We only share the data described above with Google, RevenueCat and Apple, and only to process purchases, understand and improve the app and measure ad attribution. We may disclose information if required by law.
Retention
Data on your iPhone stays there until you delete the app. RevenueCat keeps purchase records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Google Analytics event data is kept for at most 14 months.
Children
Wavex is not directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to a data protection authority. Since we don't hold an account for you, most data is tied only to random IDs. Email us and we'll help with a request to Google or RevenueCat.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
